The QLTP program does not focus on the physical body, but I will summarize some interesting practices I have explored and found beneficial in my daily life. I encourage students to explore modern options like yoga, gym workouts, and sports to enhance their physical health. However, treatments and corrections of the physical body should be left to physicians and medical professionals. Here are some valuable concepts from Eastern culture:
Using your body correctly, informed by scientific practices and ancient wisdom, can significantly transform your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, contributing to personal and professional success. The physical body is viewed as a vehicle for carrying an essence, energy, or consciousness.
Practices
- Mudras and Breathing Exercises
- Mudras (hand gestures in yoga) can deeply influence your body’s energy and mood. Coupling these with breathing exercises can enhance focus, reduce stress, and promote energy flow.
- Muscle Contraction and Breathing Exercise
- Exercises involving muscle contraction and controlled breathing can improve circulation, strengthen the musculoskeletal system, and enhance mental clarity through increased oxygen flow to the brain.
- The Art of Thinking and Not Thinking with Sound
- Listening to a sound while clearing your mind can help achieve a meditative state, reduce stress, and enhance cognitive functions by allowing the brain to rest and rejuvenate.
- The Sounds “A,” “U,” and “M”
- “Aaa” Sound: Vibrates from below the navel, enhancing grounding and prosperity.
- “Uuu” Sound: Vibrates from below the sternum, enhancing clarity and intelligence.
- “Mmm” Sound: Vibrates from the base of the throat, enhancing personal authority and power.
- “AUM” Sound: Combines all three sounds, symbolizing the unity of body, mind, and spirit. Regular practice can stabilize physiological and psychological processes. Chanting “AUM” a specific number of times (21, 33, 42, 54, 68, 72, 84, 95, or 108) can harmonize the body and mind.
- Electromagnetic Energy of the Heart and Brain
- The heart and brain emit electromagnetic fields that can influence health and the environment. Practices that enhance coherence between these fields, such as meditation, focused breathing, and positive intention, can improve emotional stability, cognitive function, and overall well-being.
Incorporating these practices into daily life taps into the body’s inherent wisdom and leverages scientific understanding to achieve a balanced and successful life. However, further exploration and practice should be done with the guidance of professionals and medical staff as needed.
